Memory is a way of holding onto the things you love, the things you are, the things you never want to lose.
from the television show The Wonder Years
You know how positive thinking is important to get you closer to want you want in life. You are vibrating at the higher level and attracting positive things, people and events in your life. But sometimes when we are down, it’s hard to be positive and raise our feelings. That’s why you need to get a whole bunch of positive memories to relate to when you need them.
One thing that helps is definitely the gratitude journal. You can always go back and read what you have in your life.
But I created a little game, that we are playing everytime we go somewhere. Usually while still in the car and when the memories are fresh.
I ask each and everyone to describe one thing, he or she finds the best on the trip. It can be anything from going to the museum, riding a bike, feeding animals, eating the food or something they see along the way. Usually everyone has one’s favourite. And then we discuss why. And we review the whole trip and remember what else was great.
You can use this game everytime you go somewhere. From little afternoon trips to holidays. It will help everyone to concentrate on the positive experiences and feel enthusiastic about the next trip. It is also great memory jogger, so the details of the trip will stay longer in your memory.
Try to associate other experiences with this trip. Remember other positive events and occasions. When you describe them several times, they will stay with you and will have positive impact when needed.
Another great way to remember good times is to review your photos. I found that some people are more object and others more person oriented when photographing, which means that they prefer to picture objects or people (respectively). It is not matter as long as the picture have emotional value for you or the story behind it. I personally don’t like being photographed and that’s why I’m taking more pictures of the buildings. On the contrary, my daughter almost always take pictures of living things – friends, herself, animals, flowers. She is interested in objects only when they offer interesting structure or pattern. And now I am more declined toward persons on the photos. It says more and when you see yourself (or any other close friend or family) happy and smiling, it brings you more joy and hapinness.
